Do I Need A Life Coach?
Do You Need A Life Coach? Life is a journey and there are many things humans absolutely need such as water, food, air, shelter, and sleep. Depending on the context, one would argue that spirituality, independence, being happy, or prosperity are also needed in our lives. So do you need a life coach? I would ask, do you value personal development and growth? Are you aware of the benefits that coaching provides?
A better question might be, are you ready to take on your challenges, obstacles and barriers that prevent you from having fulfilling relationships, getting promoted or starting your business? Are you willing to allow yourself to be coached around uncomfortable topics and subject matters you have ignored or have been resigned to? There are an array of questions one should consider in order to determine how a life coach can provide added value to their life. Think about areas of your life that you have not thought about or given any attention or energy to in years. Have you felt like you have been running on the hamster wheel, or have you simply given up?
No matter who you are or how successful you may be in some areas of your life these questions may apply to you. There are many successful people such as professional athletes, entertainers, CEO’s and entrepreneurs who have accelerated their success with a “Coach” on their team. They may hire a performance coach, a mindset coach, a results coach or a career coach etc. The list is long. Ultimately, what these people have in common is a willingness to recognize that they can achieve more, faster with the assistance and guidance of a coach.
Many times people who enjoy professional success struggle to find peace and happiness with who they are and how they are living. For some, this is called the “impostor syndrome”. Their self-talk involves questioning themselves. They may ask themselves, “Do I belong here?” “Am I good enough?” “Am I smart enough?” or “Who do you think you are and why would anyone listen to you?”
Have you ever asked yourself these questions? Perhaps it was feeling out of place and uncomfortable at a meeting, an event or a conference.
Life coaches facilitate personal and professional development and growth. They develop strategies and plans to help clients achieve their goals. Many times, coaching can be a process that isn’t what you may think. You may hire a career coach because you keep getting overlooked for a promotion. For example, your performance evaluations continue to urge you to change how you interact with your peers or subordinates to cultivate a stronger team chemistry. However, you don’t know where to start or how to change. This is where a coach helps to uncover what is really going on in your ability to connect and communicate with people. The issue many times is something you are completely unaware of.
In my experience and observations, transforming your life is for anyone who recognizes that they are not “living their best life.” Often, the extent of the impact of not living your life to the fullest isn’t felt because it has been that way for so long that it becomes your normal. It becomes the litmus test used to compare how you are doing in life. The problem is that the alternative has been out of reach or temporarily experienced that it’s the unattainable exception and not the rule. For example, you believe that the peace of mind and freedom you may experience on vacation could never be a life-style you could enjoy.
With all of that in mind, what is the answer to the question:
